Safety Tips For School Trips
July 2 (NAPSI)-Field trips always get good grades with students because they’re
lots of fun and give them a chance to bond with friends outside the
classroom. Parents and teachers like them, too, because they usually involve
learning something interesting while getting everyone outdoors.
But with field trips, like everything else, safety is no accident. Here
are some field trip safety tips that parents, students and teachers should
keep in mind:
• Children should be instructed never to leave their buddy or the group,
even when making a trip to the bathroom. The rule to follow is safety in
numbers.
• If a child is very young, parents should put his or her name and
phone number in the child’s pocket so that in case of an emergency, he
or she has the information.
• Parents should also ask teachers if they will give their child a
special meeting place in case he or she gets separated from the group.
• School uniforms or spirit wear should be worn on the field trips
so that anyone separated from the group is easier to spot. Schools that have
no uniform policy might have the children all wear the same-color shirts.
Interestingly, uniforms are not only helpful on school field trips.
Studies show that dress codes in school build confidence and self-esteem and
help behavior, while they create a sense of equality and unity among students
regardless of their economic status.
Fortunately, school wear for uniforms, dress codes or spirit days can be
stylish, easy to care for and comfortable. For example, there’s a large
selection of IZOD school uniforms at JCPenney in both regular and special
sizes. The line is available in many stores and online, 24-7, at www.jcpenney.com/uniforms.
When school uniforms are worn on field trips, anyone separated from the
group is easier to spot.
