9 NGOs to help Bulacan cops in "OPLAN: Sumvac" May polls

ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan, March 8 (PNA) -- Nine civilian organizations
will augment the Bulacan Police Provincial Office in rendering services
and assistance this summer vacation and in ensuring the conduct of an
honest, peaceful and orderly elections.
Bulacan acting police director Sr. Supt. Edgardo Tinio said a
memorandum of agreement (MOA) will be signed on Monday between the BPPO
and accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Bulacan after a
holy mass and the regular flag raising ceremony at the provincial
police headquarters here.
Tinio said the MOA signing will be witnessed by Atty. Emilio
A. Gonzalez III, deputy Ombudsman for military and other law
enforcement units.
“We welcome the support of civic groups in our peacekeeping
initiatives. They will contribute immensely in rendering assistance to
the public especially during the summer vacation, Holy week and election
period,” Tinio said.
The nine NGOs that will sign the MOA are the Filipinas Media
in Action (represented by Bernadette Rozana Peek); A.R.R.E.S.T
(represented by Jason Robielos); BATAS (represented by Dr. Raymond
Tantoco); KABALIKAT (represented by Marcos Salvador); GEBMG (represented
by Aries Anthony Andal); PRO BIKERS BULACAN (represented by Victorino
Zamora); SPECTRUM (represented by Bartolome Agustin); PARACS
(represented by Cherwin Villegas) and IAS-ACAI (represented by Rodrigo
Jurado).
Meanwhile, former NBI chaplain Efren Dato will conduct a
half-day reaching-out seminar on “Community Optimum Policing and Police
Community Leadership” later in the afternoon.
Supt. Myrna Reyes, chief of the Police Community Relations
branch of the BPPO, said the seminar aims to enhance the working
relationship between community leaders and local policemen for a
peaceful and productive community. (PNA)
