117 more barangays receive P50-T financial aid each

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, March 8 (PNA) – Additional 177 barangays received P50,000 financial aid for their respective development projects from the provincial government last week during the governor’s rounds to five towns in the second district.

Asst. Provincial Treasurer Primitiva Ontong and Governor Erico Aumentado distributed checks for each of the 25 barangays in Talibon on March 2 to make the birthday of Mayor Juanario Item memorable.

Aumentado, Dr. Mutya Tirol-Macuno (representing Provincial Board Member Amalia Tirol), ABC executive vice-president Dr. Romulo Cepedoza, and barangay officials in Talibon gathered at the San Agustin property of Mayor Item.

From Talibon, Aumentado and Ontong motored to Bien Unido to distribute the checks to the 13 of 15 barangays in Bien Unido that have already finalized the profile of their priority development projects.

To express gratitude to the many assistance that they received from the provincial government, the 13 barangay captains issued a manifesto of support to Aumentado with a promise to sustain the programs started in his administration.

The manifesto was signed by barangay captains Dionesio Sereño of Hingotanan West, Romil Librado of Pinamgo, Romero Lumanta of Poblacion, Leodigario Bazar of Sagasa, Ramon Arcenal of Nueva Estrella, Rolando Morales of Liberty, Feliciano Padillo of Bilangbilangan East, Veer Angelo Autida of Tuboran, Rico Garcia of Puerto San Pedro, Roberto Laride of Malingin, Rosemarie Boniel of Mandawa, Lina Baculpo of Bilangbilangan West, and Leonilo Baculpo of Hingotanan East.

The next day, five of the 20 barangays received their checks of P50,000 each after the governor inspected the two-classroom building constructed under the Kilos Asenso convergence strategy which was inaugurated in the absence of the governor on June 29 last year.

Ontong explained that the rest of the barangays will receive their checks during the Civic Action of the Provincial Peace and Order Council on March 17 in barangay Hinlayagan, since the Provincial Treasurer’s Office is still processing them.

Ontong, Aumentado and Vice-Governor Julius Caesar Herrera distributed the checks for the 50 barangays of Inabanga on March 4 in a gathering at the town’s cultural center.

From Inabanga, the governor’s team proceeded to Clarin cultural center for the Bohol Youth Caravan arranged by National Youth Commissioner Benjie Oliva in partnership with TESDA, OPSWD, DepEd, DOST, CHED, PENRO , BEPO, NYC, DPWH, DOLE, and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

Last Friday, the governor and the Provincial Engineer’s Office turned over two two-classroom buildings in San Miguel --one in Sebastian Jala Memorial High School in barangay Tomoc and another one in Bugang National High School.

The 53rd Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army is still finishing the other two-classroom building in SJMHS. (PNA)
